Are blinds the landlord's responsibility?

Residential landlords are responsible for following the appropriate current regulations to ensure the health and safety of their tenants whilst in their property. Therefore, landlords or tenants must ensure that all internal blinds comply with revised legal requirements for internal window blinds published in 2014.

Some of the main points of the 2014 standards require:
• Installation of safety devices for preventing any cords or chains from creating a potential hazard. This applies to all homes whether children are present or not.
• Limitations on cord and chain lengths
• Warnings labels must be attached to blinds and instructions provided regarding health and safety
• The testing of all safety components of internal blinds
